Psychotherapy Definition

Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy is a process in which a patient talks with a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker or licensed counselor about a mental health condition. The treatment of mental and emotional disorders using psychological methods, such as counseling. Psychotherapy can help us in working through certain situations or issues, to understand ourselves better, and/or to find greater harmony in our lives. There are many types of psychotherapy such as the traditional one-on-one insight-oriented therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, etc. In addition, psychotherapy can be given to individuals, couples, families, and groups. The purpose of psychotherapy is to calm, nurture, and relieve a patient of emotional stresses and problems they may be enduring due to problem with their lives, friends, family, etc.
